Walking through the rooms and listening to the well knowledgeable and pleasant tour guide @spencerhouse made me appreciate ancient architecture, presented in elegance and grace. Spencer House is a true wonder and I was pleasantly surprised at what it offered. . . Take a look at these and let me know if you agree - splendid Ancient Greek Architecture - Pic. 1: This beautiful apsidal alcove was an inspiration from the Temple of Venus in Rome. It sits above a large pair of double doors which welcomes you to the ground floor rooms, Library, the Palm Room...Look at the beauty of Pic. 2...and Pic. 3...the intricacies, the carving and gilding speaks of meticulous hard work, much love and warmth with no expense spared. . . This gem of a splendid private palace ever built in London was originally a venue for high society entertainment where the parties spilled over to the neighbouring streets. . . Visiting this magnificent building that was built between 1756 and 1766 in the heart of London on a Sunday afternoon was a thrilling experience - discovering the unknown history of this lesser known and the only remaining 18th century aristocratic home. . . Spencer House is full of bling! This picture here is one of the 8 rooms - The Palm Room - it was almost like walking into a fantasy to come face to face with so much “gold” - this beautifully carved gilded palm ceiling was an impressive piece of architecture that gave “bling” a whole new meaning! . . I am not saying that we just followed the crowd but it was more like being part of the crowd, enjoying the happy vibes, the music and sometimes singing that spills over late into the night when you are right there, in the heart of the City! . . On earth? Well...You Can!...”somewhere between heaven & earth” - you can step into a metal structure that looks and feels very much like a spaceship! Almost! 😃 I certainly felt like I was stepping into one! No visit to Brussels is complete without an experience at the Atomium! This towering steel is an iconic landmark of Brussels & most visited by tourists. . . The Atomium is 102m tall and has 9 x 18m in diameter of spheres connected with each other at 30m in distance, forming one unit cell. It is made of solidified molecules of iron, magnified 160 billion times. . . The highlight for me? It was the Panoramic restaurant, of course! 😍 A dining experience with breathtaking views through its windows was without a doubt a memorable visit here. . . 📍Located in the Upper Sphere (level 8), spread over 2 floors and linked by an internal staircase. If you intend to dine, prior booking is highly recommended - only 80 seating. . 📍I am an avid fan of Star Trek, Star Wars and anything intergalactic...so Atomium made a nice change to my usual shopping, historical and architectural interest when I visit a City... . . .📍How about you?
